A pint of The Cure? How does it work?
Share
We've all been there, you're feeling a bit rough after a night out, you or a friend suggest going for a pint of the cure to fix your hangover.
It's great to get out of the house, and misery loves company, but studies show that while more alcohol the morning after will make you feel better in the short run, really you're kicking the can down the road.
That hangover is going to catch up to you with a vengeance.
That's why we created our version of The Cure, less popular than going for more pints but our ingredients have been thoroughly researched and shown to combat hangovers.
Read on to learn about our ingredients and how each of them help you to fight the Fear.
1. Rehydration Formula
The Cure contains a perfectly balanced, high-dose blend of sodium, potassium, and magnesium, which rehydrates your body more efficiently than water alone.
Our highly-dosed vitamin complex speeds up the body’s recovery process, providing a boost in cognitive function and energy levels.
2. L-Citrulline Malate
L-Citrulline Malate (L-Citrulline + Malic Acid) helps blood flow around the body (1), allowing a more efficient delivery of oxygen and our hydration/vitamin blend. L-Citrulline also boosts your body’s ability to get rid of ammonia (a by-product of alcohol consumption (2) that contributes to the development of alcohol-related fatty liver among many other harmful effects (3).
Malic Acid is directly involved in the Krebs cycle, a process the body uses to obtain energy (4) that supports organ maintenance and neurological function (5). This will help you to overcome feelings of tiredness/lethargy so hitting the gym/getting out for a stroll will be that bit easier.
3. L-Theanine
L-Theanine is an amino acid found naturally in green tea and is the compound responsible for the soothing properties of tea (6). We’ve brought it to you in much more clinically effective doses than a cuppa.
L-Theanine helps to boost your brain’s ability to clear out harmful waste as it sleeps and will help your brain to produce calming alpha waves (associated with clarity, relaxation) without affecting theta wave activity (which makes you drowsy) (7)
L-Theanine has been shown to boost antioxidant properties of the liver, helping to prevent and reduce liver damage from alcohol (8).
It also happens to be Taylor Swift’s supplement of choice to manage her anxiety. (9)
[This is less to do with alcohol but L-Theanine has been shown to reduce the impact of beta-amyloid induced cognitive dysfunction and neurotoxicity. Beta amyloid begins life as a singular molecule but bunches up to form the plaques that are hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease. (10, 11)]
4. N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC)
NAC is a powerful anti-oxidant and will help with detoxifying the liver and kidneys after a night out (12). It has been shown to alleviate symptoms of depression and preliminary studies show it is effective to reduce cravings for nicotine.
It also helps dopamine function in the brain (12) which is responsible for feelings of motivation.
Increasing dopamine function can help you to get to the gym on those hungover days and begin the domino effect of feeling your best again.
4. Dihydromyricetin (DHM)
DHM speeds up your liver’s detoxification process and helps mitigate the damage alcohol does to your liver. (13).
It has been shown to reduce alcohol dependency in preliminary studies. (14)
Accumulation of fat tissue in the liver can lead to many diseases down the line. DHM combats this.
Bonus point: Natural Sweeteners
The Cure is naturally flavoured with Stevia and fruit powders that provide antioxidant effects without irritating the gut the same way excessively processed sugars would.
Our AM/PM Bundle
Summary
There’s a lot of technical jargon here but to sum it up, we have assembled a blend of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals in their most clinically effective doses that help to fight the fear in many ways.
Many of the compounds have also been shown to help combat long term effects of alcohol use like build up of fatty tissue in the liver, neurological damage associated with alcohol.
While it is a fantastic supplement to recover from a hangover, it is also an excellent supplement to look after long term health
